Wooden pencils are a very common tool thats used everyday. This tool although very common and very useful, is not very well known how its made. One would think that because it is such a simple tool that it would be simple to make, some parts of it are and yet some parts are very surprising in what it takes to create a pencil. Some interesting facts about the pencil is that it was invented in 1795 by Nicholas-Jacques Conte who served under Napoleon Bonaparte in the army.
